You still have to be more careful with the softer folding screen than you would a hardened-glass one. Improved durability, water resistance and a lower price make it a viable and much more interesting alternative to regular smartphones costing about £900.

There is no telephoto camera, limiting you to digital zoom, which works fine at 2x and stretches to 10x. Low light performance is improved over last year and while the ultra-wide camera loses a little detail and sharpness in lower light levels it is still one of the best. They shoot really good images and solid video in most lighting conditions. Both cameras are notably improved and are essentially the same as the two fitted to the S21+. The dual 12-megapixel camera on the back features a standard “wide” camera with optical image stabilisation and an ultrawide angle camera, similar to last year’s model.
